Tom Penningroth
Focusing on business improvement for 20 years, Tom Penningroth has gained a reputation for helping businesses articulate and realize their goals. Facilitating improvements from the front line to executive leaders, he "connects the dots" so everyone understands the importance of their role in executing the business strategy. With a breadth developed through dozens of business improvement efforts, Tom has the range to provide clients an informed external perspective along with practical ideas for implementing improvements.
Starting in 2000, Tom shifted from operations management to business improvement. He led a Six Sigma Black Belt project to improve cost of goods sold for DuPont Pioneer’s business in Mexico ($5 million), which opened the door to Master Black Belt, Six Sigma Program Manager, and DuPont Production System (Lean) Director roles. He has worked on site with business teams in more than 20 countries, building continuous improvement programs and leading project portfolios worth more than $100 million in bottom-line value.
Since 2011, Tom's work has expanded to encompass large-scale business transformations—including business acquisition (DuPont integration of Danisco) and merge-spin (Dow-DuPont spinoff Corteva Agriscience). Working alongside the best consultants in the field of culture and change management, Tom has become an experienced business transformation coach.
Tom and his wife, Diane, call Des Moines home—but also enjoy exploring and working in all parts of the world. He is the owner of Sundog Enterprises, LLC (dba Penn4 Solutions).
